Ansel in Minnesota: a brief preview

Over the past two weeks we have spent some quality time in Minnesota seeing friends and family -- Ansel got to meet his five great-grandparents, my parents, his uncle Derek, and all sorts of great-uncles and -aunties and second cousins and friends for the first time. I am writing this from a hotel room in Colorado where I am attending a research conference (some father I am!). Elissa and Ansel are still in Minnesota spending a few more precious days with our families before we re-group our family unit back in Boston. During the trip, Ansel has been a real charmer and well behaved in general. There will be a mega-post and a large cache of photos coming soon. For now, a few Ansel photos will have to serve as appetizers...

Ansel's first documented rolling-over, at 5 weeks

Ansel is starting to smile a few times a day, here with Grandma Joanne

Ansel with his second cousin Dalila, following their double baptism. She is almost two months older (but he equals her in weight and height), far more settled and mature (he's a spaz compared to her), and, apparently, a calming influence on him (we think he's just trying to impress her with his fabricated calmness).
